Palm Sunday, April 13, 9:30 a.m.: We began in Fellowship Hall and processed to the Sanctuary waving palms. Our children’s choir sang out their hosannas. The service moved from joyful shouts to the somber contemplation of Jesus’ suffering and death as we hear the reading of the Passion according to Matthew.
Maundy Thursday, April 17, 7 p.m.: Our observation of Jesus’ Last Supper will be extra special this year as six of our children will receive their First Communion during the service. The service will include individual absolution with the laying on of hands, a foot washing ritual, stripping of the altar as Psalm 22 is chanted, and departing in silence.
Good Friday, April 18, 7 p.m.:Several ancient Good Friday traditions are incorporated in this solemn Tenebrae service, which features the gradual extinguishing of candles after each of seven readings about our Lord’s seven last words uttered before his death. Tenebrae is a Latin word that means “darkness” or “shadows.”
Easter Sunday, April 20, 9:30 a.m.: The “Alleluia” will be released again, as we celebrate our Lord’s resurrection with all the great Easter hymns. Easter Brunch will follow the worship Service.
